Being a translator – an everyday life full of variations

The everyday life of a translator can be both demanding, informative, frustrating, consuming, stressful and filled with freedom – sometimes even all of this at once.

Last week, Språkøret received different exciting, informative and quite varied translation assignments. I was then allowed to “dive into” articles and texts about the St. Petersburg Ballet Theatre, on behalf of the employer The Native Translator, translating them from English to Norwegian. This was followed by user instructions for Mercedes from German to Norwegian, filled with technical details and cunning challenges. I was also trusted to translate marketing texts about elegant and beautiful furniture design from BoConcept (English to Norwegian). At the end of the week, a potential exciting project showed up – one that I will write more about if I get to do it. Life as a translator is not boring!
